Fender Squier Jazz Bass Serial Numbers Indonesia

The earliest Fender serial numbers were stamped on the bridge, moving to the neck plate in 1954. From 1951 to 1963, the Fender bass serial numbers were pretty straightforward, using sequential numbers, although there are exceptions. Sometime in 1963, Fender added an “L” prefix with 5 digits to all the serial numbers that lasted to mid-1965. For example, a 1990 made in India Squier II serial number would start with N0 plus 5 digits. The serial number is printed on a sticker located on the back of the neck, close to where the neck attaches to the body. Because the number was placed on a sticker it is fairly common for the serial number to be missing. Fender doesn't have basses made in Indonesia. But Squier does. Since at least the year 2000. I have a Indonesian Squier that was made in 2000. The serial number starts with 'IC00' which means 'Indonesia Cort 2000 I think. For Japanese serial number dating see Fenders site. Stagemaster Deluxe (neck-thru maple necks with basswood wings), and the Double Fat Tele Deluxe (all solid. IC = Made in Indonesia by Cort (solid agathis from 1998), followed by 2-digit year. Including reissues like Jazzmasters and Mustangs.

Hey there,
I bought a Squier Affinity Strat last Dec. and on checking the serial number I got this from Google.
Indonesian Squiers
IC: I = Indonesia, C = Cor-Tek (Cort), the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. IS: I = Indonesia, S = Samick, the serial number prefix is followed by a 2 number year. For example 'IC02' Made in 2002. In 2009-10 some Indonesian Squier's had the prefix ICS09XXXXX and ICS10XXXXX. There are a number of standard models that have the ICS prefix some are FSR but some are just normal run models. It therefore appears as though the the S in ICS is only an indication as to whether it is a Factory Special Run or FSR guitar (manufactured by Cor-Tek in Indonesia). It also appears likely that any FSR guitar beginning with ICS will be a Squier 'Standard' as opposed to any of the other models i.e. CV, Deluxe etc.

My serial number is ICS10207241 so I know the year, but is there any other way I can determine the difference between a Standard and Affinity?

Mine has 'Standard' on the headstock.

Some Squiers that are sold only in the Chinese and Asian markets, starting with usually the serial number
CXS: the 'X' stands for 'Axl'.
